Our home

We live in the Montlake neighborhood in Seattle, which is close to the University, the Arboretum, downtown, and our small business district.

The Methow Valley

With another family we built a cabin in the small town of Mazama in Methow Valley of the North Cascades of Washington state.  In the winter it has some of the best cross country and ski skating in the nation, and in other seasons the biking and hiking are wonderful.

Bicycling  I commute by bike and take some longer tours.  Click here for more.

Running

There are superb running routes in Seattle, many of which are very close to our home.  The Washington Park Arboretum is a half mile away.  The Burke GIlman Trail connects with Ravenna Cowen Park, which has a woodland path along an urban stream.  Following this to Greenlake is a 4 mile run.  To the west is Lake Union, with a 6 mile run along its shores.  South is Interlaken Park and Capitol Hill.  My daughter and I ran theThanksgiving 2009 Seattle (Half) Marathon (made it in 1:55!).
