Day 1. Seattle to Port Townsend

62 miles 3,825 ft

Our first day was close to perfect. Molly and I met at the ferry terminal and arrived in Bremerton at 11 am. We followed the Adventure Cycle route through Bremerton then north through up-and-down rolling hills. We had lunch at a Sunday brunch spot just off the route—took over an hour then biked north to the Hood Canal Bridge.

Crossing the bridge was a little harrowing but it did have a wide bike lane, and then we biked north past Port Ludlow and Port Haddock to Larry Scott Trail, a spectacular bike-hike-horse trail that winds 7 miles into Port Townsend. What a conclusion to the ride!

We met Amy, checked in, then had dinner with Barb Ramsey and Kerry Tremain, good friends who have a gorgeous, art-filled home on the hill in Port Townsend. It was a superb meal with absolutely wonderful people. Then to bed!
