Day 25. Wibaux
78 miles 2,093 feet
I got up early to get ready for an early start. No hotel coffee so made a cup using my MSR jetboil. Took care of some financial stuff then left for the breakfast restaurant that was scheduled to open at 7 am. It didn't so with Doug and Diane we found a backup—one person making lattes and breakfast for everyone, and he did a great job!
I was on the road (Montana 200) about 8:20 and made reasonably good time reaching Glendive around 1:30. This left another 23 miles to reach Wibaux, where I had a reservation. The Adventure Cycle route takes you onto I-94 for about 14 miles. Initially I worried about this but it turned out to be just fine. The shoulder is very wide, traffic was light and there is aways an available left lane for trucks to use when passing me, and the grades were gentle. So the freeway biking experience is not so bad, which is fortunate because I think I have a lot of in in North Dakota.
The afternoon thunderstorms missed me today, though I did have a little rain. The afternoon from Glendive to Wibaux had a fair amount of climbing and I was very glad to finish. Dinner at the local restaurant with excellent inexpensive steak. I passed on the pan fried walleye thinking I'll get a lot of it in Minnesota and Wisconsin.

My motel in Circle
One of the parts of this trip I was most curious about was what eastern Montana is like. Here's a typical scene: Wide open, literally big skies, and not many towns. Quite pretty.
Crossing the Yellowstone River in Glendive.
Happy Fourth!
