Day 5. Mazama

50 miles 5,144 ft

We left the beautiful Colonial Creek campground and immediately started our first climb up to the Diablo lookout. I did OK, then we continued to the real test: Panther Creek to Cabinet Creek. We stopped frequently and I used my granny gear though not to the most extreme, but we made it. Then we continued to steep grade to Rainy Pass. After a short rest we descended and climbed to Washington Pass. it was *hard* but we made it. All the training led up to this point, and I was able to cross Washington Pass with full panniers.

We descended and ended up at the Mazama Public House! I arrived with distinction, falling as I arrived over when I couldn't unclip.
