Day 63. NEW HAMPSHIRE Hanover

57 miles 3,268 feet

Again an early departure with the objective of arriving early at my sister's house in Hanover. Traffic was lighter but still bothersome on Vermont's narrow roads. There was lots of climbing and my legs were tired. The last few days had taken a toll and I was ready for a rest, which I will have with my second full day off for the trip in Hanover.

I arrived in East Thetford where the bridge was closed. Even if I hadn't intended to divert south to Hanover, the closure signs suggested I needed to, though someone mentioned that bikes may be able to cross at East Thetford (I saw later that they cannot). I biked south to the bridge over the Connecticut from Norwich Hanover and was quickly at my sister's house.

We had dinner with my niece and her husband and kids which included a birthday celebration for me, and a great dinner of Cincinnati chili, a first for me.

Tomorrow I rest and spend the day with my sister in her small, wonderful Hanover home.
